What do you get when you gather thousands of people together who are all passionate about the same thing? Incredible energy, great stories, and a wonderful time!
We’re talking about the Vancouver and Calgary Motorcycle and Powersport Shows hosted by Moto Canada, of course. If you were there, you’ll know how awesome of a time they were (and you might have even seen our super cool booth, happily located next to a lemonade stand – thank you, event organizers!), but we wanted to recap the experience for anyone who wasn’t able to join as well. Here’s what stood out for us.
Enthusiasm and Inclusion
The energy in the room was electric – shoutout to Nanaimo’s Della Crew, who ran around with helmets on and kept us all entertained with their blaring Bluetooth speaker! – but what was even more impactful was the lack of judgment or bias on the part of the participants and exhibitors. We loved how riders of all ages, styles, and experience levels were just there and happy to talk motorcycles. Also neat: seeing adults throwing a leg over a motorcycle for the first time at the Too Cool Riding School section!
A Bright Future
Turns out that print is not dead, and there’s still a healthy appetite for paper publications. We’re talking about Motorcycle Mojo magazine, whose January/February edition went like hotcakes at both shows. We also loved seeing kids have a blast on the GASGAS / Yamaha / Stacyc indoor riding tracks.
New Connections
Of course, one of the best parts about events and in-person meetups is getting to meet other members of the motorcycling community. Whether it’s new businesses that are working hard to share what they have to offer, or future BidMoto community members, we love forging new connections and friendships. Another highlight for us: meeting Willem Avenant, a rally racer currently documenting his journey to qualify for the 2025 Dakar Rally in a series called Decoding Dakar.
Personal Motorcycle Stories
We loved seeing some incredible custom-built motorcycles, but the stories that came along with them were even better. After all, a bike can be as unique as its rider in more ways than one!
